How to Safely Enjoy Edibles

Solid Edibles (Gummies, Baked Goods, Chocolates, etc.):

  • One dose = 10 mg
  • Eat one single dose and then set a timer for about an hour to an hour and a half.
  • When the timer goes off, see how you feel at that time before eating more.
  • Some people have slower metabolisms and won’t begin to feel the effects for up to two hours after eating an edible, so patience is key! 
  • Enjoy the experience!

Liquid/Tablet Edibles (Tinctures, Drinks, Capsules, Hard Candies, Lollipops, etc.):

  • One dose = 10 mg
  • Have one dose and set your timer for 20 minutes.
  • See how you feel at that time before having any more.
  • These forms absorb on the thin skin of the mouth and tongue and will take less time to metabolize for most people than a solid edible.
  • Enjoy the experience!

Tips to Remember:

  • THC is the part of cannabis that gets you high. THC is fat soluble.
    • This means that if you eat an edible and then eat something with a lot of fat in it (pizza, cake, etc.), the fat in the food will bond with the THC in your belly and amplify your high!
  • Always keep drinking water while enjoying an edible experience.
    • It’ll keep you hydrated and keep things flowing smoothly and comfortably.
  • When you experience an edibles high, it may last for an extended period, about 4-6 hours.
    • Because your body is metabolizing the THC, you may feel the high flowing through your whole body, in a full, radiating feeling.
  • If you can, try not to pair edibles with alcohol, especially if you are from lower elevation.
    • Sometimes it can give you the spins if you combine these, and we want you to have a nice time and not be uncomfortable.
  • Do not drive while enjoying edibles!
    • You never know when it will kick in and you do not want to be behind the wheel when it does. Plan your day accordingly with edibles.
